The 2018 Shimazu Cradle Festival

In Miyakonojo, since the Heian period (784-1184), Miyakonojo has been the central home to Japan's greatest ‘Shimazu Estate', as well as being the birthplace of one of Japan's great families, the ‘Shimazu Family'. The Shimazu Cradle Festival is aimed at honoring the culture and traditions amassed by our forebearers, and by piecing together the history that has been uncovered, develop within the hearts of the next generation of Miyakonojo children a pride in their hometown, and contribute towards Miyakonojo's future development.
