1 The role of this website

Promotion of the established municipal government

A proactive approach is taken with regards to the provision of information in an easy to understand format for the purposes of promoting citizen participation and planning. Additionally, in order to accurately reflect the general population's opinion regarding various plans decided upon by the city, an application of the Public Comment System shall be implemented.

With the usage of technologies such as online comment sections, we will proactively make use of the full extent of the internet's capability for rapid communication. Furthermore, in order to facilitate the joint resolution of various problems by the administration and its citizens, we intend to develop an online environment wherein the information provided is sufficient to take action.

In addition to providing disaster prevention information or evacuation information in the event of a disaster, we aim to implement electronic applications in the near future to assist with various administrative procedures.

The Miyakonojo City Portal aims to achieve 3 main goals of “Easy to use (Necessary information is easily accessible)","Easy to understand (with respect to a citizen's needs, an easy to understand interface is used)", and “Useful (New information is made readily available at the convenience of each citizen)" in its approach to administrating and delivering information.

3 Considerations regarding accessibility

The city aims to provide a website that is useable by people of all capabilities, including the elderly and disabled. For this reason, the city plans to develop the site following the accessibility guidelines as set out in JIS X8341-3 (高齢者・障害者等配慮設計指針, kōrei-sha・shōgaishatō hairyo sekkei shishin, Guidelines for Careful Consideration of Elderly & Handicapped People).

*‘Agency' here refers to any party including but not limited to the Mayor of Miyakonojo, the Board of Education, the Board of Sports Administration, the Auditing Committee, the Board of Agriculture, the Committee for Evaluation & Judging, the Fairness Committee or the Fire Department, wherein personal information may be gathered and used on their behalf.

Management of Personal Information

In regards to gathered personal information, both the general manager of the site and the manager of website information will endeavor to responsibly manage the website contents, in addition to taking reasonable action in regards to defense against improper and unlawful use of website contents.

As a necessary measure for the safe transfer of personal information, the Miyakonojo site will use SSL (Security Socket Layer) transfer protocols. As such, the URL for the website will always begin with ‘https'.
